Requirements

• Attendance is compulsory:
  • You can miss ≤ 3,5 classes.
  • Absence is fractional, e.g. being late 35 minutes is ≈ 0,4 abs., and being away for 10 minutes is ≈ 0,1 abs.
• Two tests (midterm + endterm):
  • 90 minutes (on the classes, see the dates above).
  • Paper part (~1/3):
    • mathematical questions like in Paper questions (but not exactly the same questions);
    • max. 30 minutes;
    • allowed: only pen.
  • Programming part (~2/3):
    • computer exercises like in the classes;
    • it can be started right after handing in the paper part;
    • allowed: ELTE computer, Sage, this webpage (with PDFs), Sage website;
    • not allowed: other device, other internet, other person, artificial intelligence.
  • 1 test = 30 points (grade limits: 26- (5), 21- (4), 17- (3), 12- (2)).
  • Requirement: both tests pass (≥ 12 points).
  • You can retake one test (= paper + prog) → it overrides the original.
• Practice grade:
  • Total points: 60 points = 30 (midterm) + 30 (endterm).
  • Grade limits: 51- (5), 42- (4), 33- (3), 24- (2)
  • But if any test fails (after retake) → your grade is 1.
• Practice re-examination:
  • You can take it if your practice grade is 1 (recorded in Neptun), and did attend the classes.
  • It overrides any previous result.
  • You can only get grade 1 or 2.
  • Time: 120 minutes.
  • Structure: similar to a test, but from the topics of both tests.
  • 60 points in total, requirement: each half is ≥ 12 points out of 30.
• Materials:
  • Each class has lecture notes in PDF, and exercises in Sage files (see above).
  • The PDFs are much more detailed than what you need.
  • You only need to know what we learnt on class (see also the exercises and the sample paper questions).
  • But familiarity with the structure of the PDFs is recommended (for efficient usage on tests).
